In its early days, Climage was a laboratory for exploring new formats and narrative forms. Alex Mayenfisch, Yves Kropf (and a little later Antoine Jaccoud), founding members of Climage were inspired by the rise of private television channels in the USA and the birth of creative video, thus giving Climage a rebellious, dissident and innovative identity. The first creations of the collective were short fictions, sketches and video art experiments. In the beginning of the 90s, the members of Climage decided to embrace documentary to «tell the story of Switzerland». Exploring different forms, these films have in common that they are made by authors with a strong social and historical conscience. Originally a collective of independent filmmakers, Climage is now a production company, open to all forms of exploration, language and documentary format. PRODUCTION TEAM Stéphane Goël Born in 1965 in Lausanne, Stéphane Goël worked as an independent editor and director from 1985. He then went to New York for six years where he trained in documentaries with John Reilly and Julie Gustafson at the Global Village Experimental Center and collaborated on experimental and poetic videos, with artists and filmmakers like Nam June Paik, Alexander Hahn, Shigeko Kubota. Back in Switzerland, he joined the Climage collective in which he produced and directed numerous documentaries for cinema and television. Curious and eclectic, his films explore utopias and tell about emigration, the quest for Paradise, the transformation of the rural world, the commitment to solidarity, the social and political struggles for equality, labor rights or against climate change, with a strong inclination for history and personal stories. stephane@climage.ch Daniel Wyss Born in Quito, Ecuador, in 1978, he has lived in the canton of Vaud since 1991.Self-taught, he works as a director, producer and VJ.
